Between 2007 and 2009 Outset supported the Zoo Art Fair's Internship Scheme.
Since the first Zoo Art Fair in 2004, interns have provided invaluable administrative and onsite assistance. Starting in 2007 Outset Contemporary Art Fund has supported the Zoo Internship Scheme, allowing Zoo Art Enterprises to extend the programme, introducing more students, post-graduates and those just out of higher education to contemporary art.
The Zoo Internship Scheme allowed young arts professionals to acquire in-depth experience in the management of a rapidly developing, lively, international art fair - gaining an understanding of how the independent art market works, as well as about individual exhibitors, including galleries, project spaces and publications. After the event, key interns were assisted with finding placements with organisations and artists associated with Zoo, as well as being presented with the possibility of continuing to work in a supporting role with the organisation's core staff.
Support of the Scheme is in line with Outset's mission of supporting new art, and continues the Fund's commitment to facilitating career opportunities within the visual arts.
