In 2017 artists Lea Collet and Marios Stamatis were invited to participate in Nir Segal's Outset Baker Street Residency.
Ghost Intimacies: a net romance is a multi-character play, which has been developed as series of 'acts', taking various shapes and forms throughout 2017. Through the production and the development of Ghost Intimacies Part II Lea & Marios' aim was to create a multi-layered performative work that aim to develop and extend the notion of performance in response the notion of 'FREE'. For the creation of Part II they wanted to play with the conventions of branded affect, emotional economy and romance through text, movement, sound and video. Ghost Intimacies Part II was evolving in an adaptive set - here, choreography, gesture, sound, spoken word and video contributed to an embodied vocabulary through which they/performer, operate intimate and fractional exchanges, reflecting on the threshold of subjectivity, corporeality and representation.
The Outset Baker Street Residency space was used as a research studio as well as an open rehearsal space where the audience were invited to witness their process of working. Through the 'FREE' initiative, Lea Collet & Marios Stamatis were interested in establishing a system of production, in which performance operated as a field of improvisation, activities and collaboration.
RESIDENCY: 15th May – 30th May 2017 & 22nd May - 1st June 2017
Lea Collet (b. 1989, France) & Marios Stamatis (b. 1986, Greece) live and work in London. Lea Collet completed her MA Fine Art in 2015 at The Slade School of Fine Art and Marios Stamatis is currently undertaking his MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths University of London. Their collaboration provokes environments and situations in which they use their own bodies, as well as those of others to generate popular tropes within a ceremonial rituality. Their bodies ambiguously inhabit multiple stages, the result of it being a film, a performance, an installation. They script layered choreographies in relation to a cosmos that can sometime be called a backdrop.
