The inaugural Medina Triennial 2026 will unfold across the town of Medina in New York State with 35 artists and collectives from around the world. Under the theme ‘All That Sustains Us’, the Triennial will examine maintenance as a social, ecological and cultural practice, explored through commissions, residencies and site-specific projects situated along the Erie Canal and throughout the town. Key works will include Mary Mattingly’s Floating Garden, Asad Raza’s water purification project, a public sculpture by James Beckett, a community-led ceramic structure by Lina Lapelyte, a work ballet by Mierle Laderman Ukeles and a collaborative project by Futurefarmers.
The programme will include workshops, talks and performances developed with regional partners. Designed to engage residents from across Medina and Western New York, the Triennial aims to establish a lasting platform for artistic activity and community participation that will grow through its recurring editions.
