"Blood Pressure" (2016), by Estonian artist Diana Tamane, was gifted to the collection of the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland through a collaboration between Outset Estonia and the Estonian Photographic Art Fair.
The museum, which also acquired other works from the artist, is one of the most influential institutions devoted to photography in Europe and Switzerland.
Tamane's work was chosen by an international jury from the 2017 Estonian Photographic Art Fair. Subsequently, Thomas Seelig, a member of the jury and former director of the Fotomuseum Winterthur, invited the artist to exhibit her works at the ‘Plat(t)form’ series in Winterthur.
Blood pressure is the collection of images the artist found in her great-grandmother’s family album. Every day until her death she measured her heartbeat and blood pressure and wrote it down in a notebook. When she couln’t find the notebook, she wrote it down on what was near at hand.
