Artist Keren Cytter was a guest of Outset Bialik Residency during May 2019, for the preparation of her exhibition Sponsored Content, presented at The Center of Contemporary Art Tel Aviv-Yafo, curated by Nicola Trezzi.
Sponsored Content, the artist's first institutional solo presentation in Israel, carried a deep autobiographical tone, although, as always in her work, this very tone was hinted and suggested, avoiding any direct references. For this exhibition, articulated in two galleries, the artist has conceived an immersive display that invited the viewer to have an unusual physical encounter with her work, generating a space for reflection, bringing up all the different life stages, from childhood to teenage, from adulthood to middle age, till old age. Complementing the installation on the ground floor was a full retrospective of her video work, presented in the multipurpose gallery on the second floor.
Keren Cytter (*1977, Tel Aviv; lives and works in New York) is a unique voice in the Israeli and international art scene; her very particular non-narrative style cuts across video, poetry, prose, drawing, and dramaturgy. A prolific creator, she has made more than fifty video works, written several novels and even an opera libretto, started a dance theatre group called "Dance International Europe Now" and an organization called "Art Projects Era".
ON VIEW: 1st May - 28th June 2019
