Outset Contemporary Art Fund has continued to evolve its model of philanthropy in response to the changing needs of artists, institutions and the wider cultural ecosystem.
Its first fund, the groundbreaking Outset/Frieze Art Fair Fund to benefit the Tate Collection, enabled 100 works to be purchased from commercial galleries at Frieze London and donated to the Tate’s national collection – establishing a new model of philanthropy that has inspired donors around the world.
Since then, the charity expanded its support across the arts ecosystem, from exhibitions, acquisitions and new commissions to education, creative infrastructure and institutional development.
While the model has evolved, the principle remains the same: raise funds from passionate donors; be there from the outset; help realise ambitious contemporary art projects.
