Outset Greece aims to support and promote Greek cultural organisations, museums and artists by offering crucial funding, activating networks, and initiating new relationships and partnerships.
We collaborate with curators, artists and institutions to help ideas materialise - from exhibitions and residencies to long-term institutional partnerships.
Outset Greece Mission:
- Support Greek artists and cultural organisations to realise ambitious projects.
- Build sustainable collaborations between Greece and the international art world.
- Lead innovative initiatives that strengthen contemporary practices on a global scale.
We champion contemporary art that creates a ripple effect – projects whose impact extends beyond the exhibition space and into the wider cultural conversation.
Outset Greece was founded in 2013 as a non-profit organisation by Elina Kountouri, with the initial support of the entrepreneur-collector Dimitris Daskalopoulos. In 2021, Artemis Stamatiadis became director, bringing her rich experience in arts organisations to the role.
PATRONS PROGRAMME
€7,000, €5,000 or €3,000 per year
Outset Greece Patrons strengthen Greek contemporary visual culture by supporting artists and cultural organisations at a critical early stage-true to our name: be there at the outset. Patron contributions sustain the Outset Greece Grants Programme and fuel collaborations with a wide network of local and international institutions, artists and curators.
By joining the Patrons Programme, individuals become part of a community of Greeks and philhellenes committed to shaping the future of contemporary art in Greece. Together they help bridge persistent gaps in funding and institutional support, enabling ambitious ideas to grow, connecting local practice with global dialogue, and ensuring that creativity remains a vital force in Greece's cultural life.
"Outset is more than a philanthropic organisation supporting cultural agents. In a landscape where contemporary art has been overlooked for decades it extends the very terms and possibilities for an art scene to grow."
Helena Papadopoulos, Founder of Radio Athènes
What does your support unlock?
By supporting creative ecosystems, Outset offers patrons unique opportunities to engage directly with artistic discourse and the creative process. Throughout the year, patrons are invited to bespoke events linked to Outset-supported projects, providing deeper insight into the art, the artists, and the cultural landscapes we work within.
